Best Saturday Night In Aaaages...

After an awesome lunch with my friends we made our way to check in at the Stamford Plaza in the city... A beautiful birthday gift from my mum and Shane... Just chilling a little before the game was bliss, you don't realise how precious baby free time is... Cruised to Minotaur, and bought some Buffy and Angel graphic novels and made our way to the game...

Melbourne Victory V Sydney FC, our biggest rivals... I was really nervous about the game, it's so much more intense when you are pregnant... Surprisingly we played some good football! Scoring 3, with Sydney being completely shut down... Obviously adding to the greatness of the night, nothing like kicking arse against your rivals...

Back to our room for a lovely evening with the man I love the most in the world... I highly recommend that every couple with children get a full night away sometime, really let's you go deep into the beauty of your relationship...

All in all it was perfect...

Then right before bed while I was moisturising, my glasses fell off the bathroom counter and cracked on the tiles... Bad, bad, bad... Second time this year that's happened to me... Wouldn't be so bad if I had standard bad vision, however my eyes are really bad... It takes 4 weeks and costs $500 just for my lenses to be crafted, not including frames... Annoying, yes, but I will let go... Get a new script tomorrow, choose new frames and after dropping a grand on new vision, will be more careful in future!

Melbourne Victory vs Sydney FC 27th Dec 08

I totally forgot to put this up, from Melbourne Victory V Sydney FC which was a truly fantastic match on the 27th December 08... As the boys came out on the field the north end put up this banner and lit a flare, setting the scene for this killer face off...

Melbourne Victory Vs Perth Glory 4th October 2008 @ Telstra Dome

After last week’s abysmal performance against Queensland Roar, Melbourne Victory had a lot to prove in this match against Perth Glory. Fortunately, Victory seemed to have got their act together, and right from the get go, looked like a more focused team.

The school holidays were no doubt to blame for the poor turnout (18,036), but that didn’t faze a determined home side from keeping their fans happy, and 25 minutes in Grant Brebner made the most of a half-arsed clearance and put away a solid goal.

Danny Allsop seems to cop a heap of shit from the fans at the Telstra Dome, but after an initial shot of his was blocked, he was given a second chance that wasn’t wasted, putting Melbourne Victory 2-0 up in the 40th minute.

Within a minute of the second half kicked off, Rodrigo Vargas tucked away a third goal, and Danny Allsop topped things off with his second of the game in the 71st minute, making it 4-0.

All in all it was a cracking game and a fine return to form – a few things worth noting:

• Mitchell Langerak is on fire. Over the course of the last few games he’s pulled off some incredible saves.
• 18,036 is Victory’s lowest A-Legue turnout in a couple of years. Telsta Dome was noticably empty, but the guys in the North and South Terraces were in fine voice throughout.
• Middle-aged housewives love them some Archie Thompson. Every time he got the ball the same old birds behind us crowed ‘Go on Archie’.
• It was great to see Victory finish a game with 11 players on the pitch.

Football - Melbourne V Juventus - Telstra Dome - 30th May 08

Football - Melbourne V Juventus - Telstra Dome - 30th May 08

This was my first football (I have to untype it every time I type soccer) game... An interesting one to choose as it was Melbourne Victory V Juventus, a team clearly much better then ours... We arrived at the Telstra Dome early, went to find our seats... Now we only got tickets 2 weeks before the game so all of the good seats were taken, we found ourselves on the third level, at a scary height, but with a great view of the pitch...
It was a challenge getting to and staying at the seats because of my irrational fear of heights, but once we had settled in it was bearable... Within the first 5 minutes Juventus scored leading me to believe that it was going to be an absolute creaming, but right up until the last minute I thought that there was a chance that we could tie, but unfortunately we didn't... We lost 4 - 1 with 2 goals scored in the last minutes... Needless to say, I enjoyed the game (not the seats) and am thinking the we will probably become Melbourne Victory members before the week is out...
