Great selection of comics, toys, t-shirts and graphic novels… It’s very easy to spend money here! Which I did... Unfortunately it is not pram friendly at all in here, so Mark and I had to tag team Marley while the other shopped... We will continue to come back here, I love it!

Saturday 12 September

Saturday 12 September

This morning we went to Union Square, there was a farmers market on which we walked through… It was nice to see fresh local produce in the city! Bought loads at Babies R Us, checked Filenes basement which was a bit random this time and the other stores around, then off to Chat N Chew for lunch, we love it here… Chat N Chew was awesome as expected, we both ordered the Mac and Cheese and it was yum! Marley was eating the Mac with us she loved it too! This place is a must visit!
Headed up Broadway shopping as we went, some great stuff in Forbidden Planet, though its not really pram friendly so we tag teamed Marley… Went east to the New Era store which was awesome! Bought a cap and it came boxed and bagged, on to Alife, Classic Kicks etc… Not much to buy so we went back to footlocker in Times Square in hope of getting a pair of Blazers for Mark, they didn’t have his size…
Back to our room and we realise that we need to get some laundry done ASAP, the staff at RCA tell us where to go 8th and 48/49th so we get our laundry done over night… Back to our room and we order Johns Pizza, massive yummy pizzas!!!

NYCs Forbidden Planet is quite small, but has a LOT of greatness packed in! Found it hard to navigate the Buffy and Angel items as they were located over 4 spots! It would have been easier had they all been together… Lots of great toys, books, comics of course and t-shirts… Mark spotted a great Zombie shirt, and they had it his size and a men’s small, so I was stoked, it may not be a perfect fit but it would do! The staff in there were great fun and very helpful…

Tuesday 1st April 2008

Tuesday
We took the subway to Union Square to start our days shopping (not every day will be shopping, but most)... Started at DSW and Filenes basement, DSW was rubbish, so no review, it would probably be great if you were fanatical about girly shoes but I’m a trainer’s girl so we left quite quickly… Filenes was great, got a couple pairs of sunnies, some earrings and gifts for a couple babies we know, was really impressed by how well ordered it was! Cruised around the rest of Union Square, Virgin, Barnes and Noble, Babies r Us, there are some BIG stores here… eventually we hit Broadway and went down there, starting with Forbidden Planet, the Strand bookstore and down a little till we found our turn off to Dave’s Quality Meat, where we started the next leg of our shopping: everything east of Broadway, this took hours… We made our way through the L E S and East Village, loads of shops, great architecture and really lovely people among the really crazy people... it seems everyone likes to talk to themselves around here! Most of the shops on our list were boutiques and a few of them had closed down which was a shame, especially Premium Laces a ladies sneaker store! I found in lots of these boutiques that they don’t really cater for women, so Mark got some great shirts but there was nothing for me! Again we walked for 7 hours all around, in and out the side streets, checking out the squares homes, shops etc, and eventually the time came to go home… Again we got in absolutely shattered, and hit the bed for the last few episodes of Underbelly and off to bed…

This is THE geek Mecca… Being a slight geek myself, and Mark being a super geek we have always enjoyed this store… My main reason is a fiendish addiction to Buffy and Angel, unfortunately Dr Who has taken over this complex and everything else is dwindling, especially the Buffy and Angel section… Being a bit anti Dr Who I struggled with this… And with lack of new Buffy and Angel items all that there was for me was the new Angel comic, but I decided to wait until we get to NYC in hope that there is more for me to buy…
