Dropped into the launch of the sneaker freaker x puma collabs to say hello... It was quite busy, and the raffle ticket system did seem the best way to distribute the 12 pairs that were about to drop... Also checked out what the city store had to offer, only been here a couple times favouring the Prahran store, and was happy to see a couple of very cute pint sized kicks that we will no doubt be back for thanks to the sales technique of Memphis... Didn't stay long, too hot inside and too smokey outside, yes I am a sook! But it did look like everyone was having a good time even when the beer ran out...
Life switched up with kids, sneakers, fashion, films, food, music, art, a-league in Melbourne...

Was dragged along to the Wax Musuem sale on Friday night, well not really, but it wasnt high on my list of priorities... Looked like there were some good pick ups, at 20% off everything, as well as $1 crates out the front and $2 and $5 crates inside... Luckily some mates had the same idea which kept me entertained so Mark could dig away...

Friday night we went out for dinner in the laneways, it was pretty busy but we found a seat and took it! At Cafe Andiamo the service was great, the menu was varied, with several vegetarian options, and the food we chose was delicious! I had the pasta pollo avocado which was penne, chicken, avocado with a creamy sauce which was basicaly a creamed up pesto YUM! Mark had the margarehita pizza (surprise!) which he enjoyed... Would definitely come back here!

Jason- “we are trying to bring it back to the early '80s movies where it's not Muppets in the Sahara or Muppets Underwater. It's the Muppets getting back together to put on a show, to save the studio.”
In this recent interview Jason Segel (How I met your mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) talks about the Muppet Movie in the works, I was excited about the Fraggle movie, but this is gonna be awesome... He talks about sticking to the Muppets roots and this dude writes really well... So well that I really wanted to see the play he did in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it looked wicked...

Australia the fattest nation?!?
http://www.theage.com.au/national/nine-million-australians-are-a-ticking-fat-bomb-20080619-2tjv.html
The first thing everyone was talking about as I arrived at pump yesterday morning was that Australia is the fattest nation... I got home to get ready for work and gerabbed the paper off the driveway, in between clients I managed to read the front page of 'the Age' showing this image and the above article... It is all a big worry and I also find it embarrassing for our nation that we are full of fat people... Maybe the issue needs to be tackled in the same way that we tackle alcohol and drug abuse, with free services (counselling, project working etc) to help these people resolve their addiction to food or the reasons behind their compulsive eating... Something needs to happen...

Have seen these in the shops and really quite fancy checking them out, unfortunately they are always sealed! Am a guidebook fiend from way back... Love to get lots of ideas about the places I am going before I go there, and do lots of research, would be interested in just what format these books would work in... Moleskine books are amazing to write in, I love their yearly diaries...

The Other Queen - Philippa Gregory
The Other Queen - Philippa Gregory
Philippa Gregory is probably best known for the movie adaption of 'The Other Boleyn Girl', but it is by far not her only work... I have enjoyed her books for years and was stoked when I found this one at a stock take sale! For as long as I could remember I have been interested in the relationship between Queen Elizabeth and Mary Queen of Scots, and have read a few books about them, and seen a few films about them too... It might seem strange to continue to read the same story over and over again, but I love different peoples takes on them... Usually the writer has an extreme bias to one side or the other, but it was refreshing to read this story, told from several points of view, for a more balanced picture which paints neither woman as evil, or angelic... This book focuses on the relationships surrounding Mary as she is being held by England during the negotiations to get her back on the throne of Scotland... A really good read, and if you like period pieces this book is for you!

Yarra Valley - Yering Station Farmers Market - Yarra Valley Dairy

From Yering Stations website:
Yarra Valley Farmers' Market - every 3rd Sunday of the Month
Founded over 9 years ago the Yarra Valley Regional Farmers' Market is the longest running market in Victoria. Held on the third Sunday of each month in the Historic Barn, the Farmers' Market features produce made and grown by some of the regions' best producers.
Speak to the producer whilst purchasing fresh seasonal fruit, juices and vegetables, locally baked bread, biscuits, pies and fudge, jams and preserves, cheeses, coffee, pasta, locally grown flowers, olives, eggs, honey, meat and much more.
Open 9.00am- 2.00pm
Sunday my mum and my aunts headed out to Yarra Valley to check out the farmers market... It is a beaqutiful drive out into Yarra Valley and due to some recent rain it was all so green, which is a nice change! The farmers market was great, in a big shed, full to the brim with people, selling and buying... Loads of tastings, some great produce on offer, I bought all of my veggies for the week and some amazing raspberry jam, home made yo yos and honeycomb...
On the way home we droped into the Yarra Valley Dairy which was an interesting experience, it smelt like the Rpyal Melbourne Show, cow and goat city! The cheeses on offer looked good but were really pricey, so I bought Mark some cheese... Most of the produce was available from the farmers market at a better price but there was the most amazing apple juice available, it was like drinking fresh apples, mmmm...
All in all a great day, good to get away from the city, do something different and I would love to go back next month...

It was Ambers birthday and the Lucky Coq was the place to be… The last time I was here it was 2001 and not yet the Lucky Coq, it was a dive pub and my expectations weren't high… Well these dudes have given it a complete revamp, with so dark you can barely see lighting, great big couches all over and a smoking area with amazing ambience so much so that this is where we planted ourselves… Much to my disgust arriving home stinking of smoke, blegh! Overall I was impressed with the décor and vibe, the queue to the bar looked seriousbut I rarely venture to bars so it didn’t bother me...

I know that the Soda Rock diner ooozes cheese, but I am a fan of cheese :) I am also a fan of their burgers, they have really good beef burgers and apparently the veggie burgers are pretty good too... So what was a date with my husband slowly became dinner for 7, we got a much bigger booth then usual and the good times were rolling... The service was exceptional, the dancing when the designated 'Shake ya tailfeather' came on (yes James I found the title!)... The food came out and everyone seemed satisfied with their burgers... I got the Hubcap with cheesy fries, and it was allllllll sooooooo goooood! Its a burger with everything, not greasy at all... Mark loves his veggie burger with an egg and cheesy fries, pretty much everyone enjoyed their order... I know we will be back...

Scientology Protest - Flinders St Steps, Melbourne
Scientology Protest - Flinders St Steps, Melbourne
www.xenu.net
Saturday afternoon on the Flinders St steps... After brunch and some light shopping Laura and I were exiting the city via Flinders St Station and stumbled across a Scientology protest... It was definitely interesting, they were banging 'Safety Dance' from their boombox and wearing masks from V for Vendetta, having not seen the film I couldn't tell you whether that had any meaning... I love Melbourne's diversity, though it looked more like a Halloween celebration then a protest...

Saturday morning my good friend Laura was in town and we met for brunch in the laneways in the city... It was fairly busy, so we just went where we could get a table... We ended up at The Quarter, I had never been there before, but we were hungry so we took a seat... We both ordered the eggs benedict... It was reasonably priced and the service was fast... The eggs came quickly and the eggs themselves were cooked to perfection! Unfortunately there were gristley bits in my ham, and the hollandaise sauce was a bit too creamy, which was nice for the first couple bites but became a bit overwhelming... My soy hot chocolate was pretty bad too, think they must have been using a crappy soy milk, Laura didn't seem to have a problem with her milk hot chocolate... I probably wouldn't come back here for the food, but the vibe in the laneways is lovely, some great people watching - love the crazies before 11am...
