It was Ambers birthday and the Lucky Coq was the place to be… The last time I was here it was 2001 and not yet the Lucky Coq, it was a dive pub and my expectations weren't high… Well these dudes have given it a complete revamp, with so dark you can barely see lighting, great big couches all over and a smoking area with amazing ambience so much so that this is where we planted ourselves… Much to my disgust arriving home stinking of smoke, blegh! Overall I was impressed with the décor and vibe, the queue to the bar looked seriousbut I rarely venture to bars so it didn’t bother me...

Due to my general hibernation status I had never been to The Workshop before, but thanks to Guy and Genos birthdays I had a good reason to go... Its a great intimate venue, probably fits in more people then it feels because its a bit separated (by fake and real walls) and has some pretty chunky decor... I liked the overall vibe of the place, and although the DJ was a bit all over the place (to quote Lachie 'playing the one smash hit off each record'), he did live up to the old school hip hop party classics which the night called for, just not well...

I'm not really into bars, especially bars in Richmond after big AFL games, but months ago Cricket decided that this was where she wanted to go for her 30th birthday drinks... Lucky for us when we arrived it was quiet, we had our pick of spots to sit, starting in one of those cosy booths inside and once there were too many of us we moved to the outside undercover beer garden... Overall I really liked the aesthetics of this spot, it was really cosy, though as the people poured in I lost my taste for it... Lucky for us we had a massive area with tables outside which we claimed, so we weren't troubled too much by randoms... On the way to the bathroom and eventually leaving it was troublesome though, it would seem that this brand of civillian don't move when asked:
me: 'excuse me'
them:nothing
me: 'excuse me'
them: nothing
me: 'EXCUSE ME' push 'evil bitches'

It just shouldn't have to be that way... Oh well... Overall it was a good, if not a little early (mostly due to me having to get up at stupid o'clock for the mothers day classic) night... Great company, nice venue... Happy 30th Cricket!

Picked Mark up from work yesterday and went to Candy Bar for a drink with the boys, long time between catch ups... And Briggs is home :)

Anyways I hadn't been to Candy Bar in a while, and had forgotton how chilled it is there... The outdoor area has a lovely ambience... Nice lighting and mellow electronic tunes... Nice to remember it's there...
