It looks like Russell may have won himself the role of Arthur in the remake of the 1981 film... Its about a boozehound playboy rascal (might not need to act) who is set to inherit a fortune if he marries an heiress, but he falls in love with a working-class woman and ends up having to choose between money and love...I am at that point in my infatuation with Mr Brand that I would quite happily sit through anything he was in :)
